Shukla Yajur Veda Upakarma

Upakarma is a Vedic ritual celebrated every year generally on the full Moon day of the Lunar Month Sravana that falls during August–September months of English calendar which also coincides with the monsoon season. Upakarma is referred to as Avani Avittam in Tamil, Jandhyala Punnama in Telugu, Janivarada Habba in Kannada.

Items Required
  • (2 strands) Dharbha Grass folded as pavithram.
  • Kanakanam (Yellow Thread) - For Sama Veda Only.
  • Cut Pieces of Dharbha Grass.
  • Yagnopavitha (Sacred Thread) – 1 / 2 / 3 sets.
  • White Rice (100 Gms).
  • Til Seeds (100 Gms) – If you are performing Pithru Tharpanam.
